 You can also control who can tag and mention you. Users can also hide their activity status in the app. Here's a look at five features you can use to make your account more secure and private.

Restricted Accounts

There is a feature called "Restricted Accounts" in Instagram settings. As the name implies, it allows you to control a person without blocking or unfollowing them. The company says that when you restrict an account, no one else knows about it.

If you use this feature the other person will not be able to know if you are online or if you read the messages. You can review comments on accounts you choose. When you manage an account, Instagram gives you the option to let your friends see the comments from the managed account. You can see "Restricted Accounts" in the Privacy section in the app's settings

Mentions

In the Privacy section there is an option called "Mention". If you do not want others to mention you in the story, comment, video or caption, you can turn it on. You can use the "People You Follow" feature for this. This is the only way you can narrow it down to the ones you like.

Delete Followers

If you make your account a personal account you will have the option to exclude some from the Followers list. If you do not want to block them, you can do so slowly.

To do so, open the app and tap on the bottom of your profile picture. After that, you need to click on "Followers" which appears on the screen. If you want to remove the followers, you can remove the followers by tapping on the "Remove" button.

Activity status

People you follow and interact with directly on Instagram can see when you were online. You can change this by turning off your activity status. To do so, select Privacy in Settings and disable clicking on Account Status.

Hide Likes and Turn Off Comments

You can hide likes and comments for your posts on Instagram. To do so, click on the three dots at the top right of your app. In the menu that appears, you can see the option to hide likes and comments.
